The Housing and Environment Department of Riga City Council has entered into an agreement with the association “Animal Management” Ulubele "on the care of wild animals in urban areas.
Citizens shall provide information on the location of the wild animal in urban environment by calling police phones or the veterinary clinical telephone at any time of the day, or by informing them in person
local government police or veterinary hospital.
If information regarding such animal has been received, assistance shall be provided operationally, in cooperation with all responsible services: the State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD), the State Forest Service (VMD), the Riga Forest Agency and the Housing and Environment Department of the Riga City Council.

Process description

  1. Service requests
    Residents shall provide information regarding the location of the wildlife in the urban environment by calling police phones or the veterinary clinical phone at any time of the day, or by informing the local government police or the veterinary hospital in person.

  2. Receipt of services
    In accordance with the Agreement, the Animal Management Association “Ulubele” organises the care of wild animals in urban areas, ensuring:
    1. The departure of the animal catcher to the site of the event and the delivery of the animal to the clinic;
    2. Veterinary inspection of the animal;
    3. The provision of first veterinary medical treatment (wound handling, stitching, administration of painkillers, etc.);
    4. The delivery of the wild animal to the forest;
    5. Euthanasia of the animal, if necessary.
